PACC covers part of the treatment cost, and clients have a surcharge to pay. This can vary in price depending on the clinic you attend.
An ACC claim may be lodged through me as your physiotherapist or through your GP if you have seen them first. To qualify for ACC, you need to have had an accident, occurring at a specific time and this should involve an external force.
For example: playing soccer, was tackled and fell, hurting ankle.
If you are not sure whether you can claim ACC, speak to your physiotherapist about how the injury occurred. If your claim is accepted, you will be allocated up to 16 treatments. If you require further treatments, then an ACC32 can be filled in by your physiotherapist for this request.
Please be aware that ACC will decline your claim if the pain has come on gradually over days, weeks or months, as this is not classed as an accident.
If your application is declined, you will no longer be covered by ACC for that injury. However, you are still entitled to attend physiotherapy as a private client.
